Before my surgery with Dr. Chandela my life was miserable, absolutely miserable. I had a pain in my right leg which stretched from from the base of my spine all the way down to the toes. The only way I can describe it was that it felt like someone was constantly trying to break my bones. The pain grew progressively worse over several months and before I knew it, I couldn’t do anything. I couldn’t play sports, I couldn’t walk the dog, travel, work or do anything that required me to get out of bed. It was an absolute nightmare and one of the lowest times of my life. One day, when the pain got particularly bad, I went to the emergency room where the physician referred me to Dr. Chandela and his office. I knew Dr. Chandela from a previous procedure and I very much trusted him and his abilities.
Though I’m still on the road to recovery, I can say with absolute certainty that I have my life back. Now that the surgery is complete I can walk, work, travel and get back into the activities I love and enjoy. I’m very optimistic and confident that in a couple months I’ll be back to 100% and for that I’m incredibly grateful.
There are hundreds of thousands of surgeons in the U.S. who I could have gone to for this procedure, but Dr. Chandela offers something unique. On a scale from 1 to 100, he is 150 and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to someone else who’s suffering from back or spinal pain. Dr. Chandela is a professional, he doesn’t treat you like a disabled person but works with you to find solutions to your particular problem. On top of this he exhibits a tremendous amount of confidence, which transferred to me as a patient and gave me hope for a successful operation. But more more importantly than all of that is the fact that he gets the job done. Dr. Chandela gave my life back to me and I’m incredibly grateful for him and his work.

My story is a little different from many because it wasn’t pain that brought me to Dr. Chandela, it was my lack of smell.
A little while back I went to my primary care physician because I had a very diminished sense of smell. I was convinced that I had a sinus issue and wasn’t terribly concerned. At the doctor I got a CT scan and then had a follow-up EMT appointment. A little while later, the EMT called me and told me that I definitely needed to schedule an MRI because the radiologist who had looked at my CT scan saw a foreign mass on my brain. After several tests I was diagnosed with a Meningioma tumor that had damaged the nerve-endings in my brain and had caused me to lose my sense of smell. At that point, my insurance company referred me to Dr. Chandela.
Dr. Chandela was great throughout the entire process. I felt very comfortable with him and I was confident that he was presenting me with the best treatment option for my condition. On top of that, he was always willing to answer the numerous questions that I had. He was approachable, easy to talk to and made me feel very confident that we were doing the right thing. I had such a good experience with Dr. Chandela and would highly recommend him.

I suffered from severe back pain. I was incapacitated and wasn’t able to live the active lifestyle that I once was able to. I love to play soccer, golf and bike during my free time but, with such tremendous pain, these activities were no longer a possibility. It was about that time that my primary care physician referred me to Dr. Sid Chandela and his practice. After some discussion, we decided that surgery was necessary to relieve my pain. So I underwent the procedure and now I feel great! I’m pain-free and have been able to return to my active lifestyle. I would definitely recommend Dr. Chandela to anyone else who’s suffering from debilitating back pain. He’s caring, smart and helped me get my life back to where it was before.

For years I suffered from back pain and migraines. When the pain hit, I couldn’t do anything, couldn’t travel, I couldn’t sit in the car for long periods of time and I couldn’t hike which is one of my favorite activities. I was in constant pain and it was always on my mind. Finally I decided enough was enough and I met with Dr. Chandela. After our consultation I just felt an ease with him. I particularly loved that surgery wasn’t the first option for him. As a matter of fact we went through a number of other non-surgical healing methods before finally deciding that surgery was required. I feel like in our day in age so many doctors just want to put you on the operating table immediately, but that just isn’t the way Dr. Chandela does things. He works with you to figure out which treatment option is best for you and dealing with your pain. Additionally, when we finally decided that surgery was necessary, he took his time with me and explained every one of my four procedures clearly and thoroughly.
Now that my surgeries are complete I can say that all the issues he addressed are completely resolved. I haven’t had a migraine since the day before the surgery three years ago. This has dramatically improved my lifestyle because pain is no longer the thing that’s on the top of my mind. Instead, I can focus on the things that I truly love and enjoy.
I have recommended Dr. Chandela to dozens of people including family members and friends and I will continue to do so in the future. His approach is incredible. He takes his time, he is personally involved with his patients, even going so far as to call you throughout your treatment to check on how you’re doing and update you on anything and everything that’s going on with your condition. On top of this, he’s incredibly confident in his ability to treat your condition, but he never comes across as arrogant. On the contrary, in my experience and with everyone I’ve talked to, Dr. Chandela is loved by the people that surround him. To me, this is a huge comfort especially when someone is dealing with issues in your brain and spine. I literally trusted Dr. Chandela with my brain and I would do it again; there’s no greater compliment I can give.

I first started having pain in the 4th grade. Throughout the years I would get awful migraines and go temporarily blind in my left eye. I had no idea why this was happening, I just knew that it was terrible. It felt like someone was knocking me on the head for to 2-4 hours straight and not being able to see out of my left eye was really scary. No medication helped at all. Occasionally, I would try to sleep off my symptoms, but even then, I would wake up and there would still be pain. There were even times that I had to skip school because of the pain and blindness.
When I was 13 we decided to take some action and after a series of tests I was diagnosed with having an AVM, or arteriovenous malformation, which is an abnormal connection between the arteries and veins within the brain or spine. At this point, my primary care physician recommended that I see Dr. Chandela. They said that he was the only neurosurgeon in the area who could address my issue.
Dr. Chandela was incredibly nice and knowledgeable from our first meeting. I also really appreciated the fact that he gave me a bunch of options apart from open brain surgery right off the bat. As a matter of fact, I remember telling my mom that no matter what, I didn’t want open brain surgery. But after going through all the options, Dr. Chandela explained that surgery was necessary to remove the AVM. I was nervous, but Dr. Chandela laid everything out for me and made me feel confident that the procedure was going to go well.
Sure enough, Dr. Chandela removed the AVM from my brain and now I am completely pain free. As a matter of fact, I haven’t had so much as a headache since the operation. I would definitely recommend Dr. Chandela because he clearly loves what he does and, more importantly, he’s really good at what he does.

I was diagnosed with an arteriovenous malformation (AVM), but did not have any pain or other symptoms. After my diagnosis, and before seeing Dr. Chandela, I refrained from heavy exercise and physical exertion over a concern that it could exacerbate my condition.
I was referred to Dr. Chandela by my primary care physician. As I was conducting research, it was clear that Dr. Chandela has a great reputation and a lot of experience. When I finally met with him for my first appointment, I was further impressed by his knowledge of AVMs and his ability to clearly walk me through diagnostic and treatment plans and his willingness to take the time and answer any questions that I had.
Now that the surgery is complete, I have a sense of relief that I was able to get treated quickly and can now move forward with my life. I would highly recommend Dr. Chandela for AVM treatment. He is friendly, happy to answer any questions or concerns and is extremely knowledgeable about the condition and treatment options as well as the associated risks with any given treatment.
