The CyberKnife Stereotactic Radiosurgery System is a non-invasive technique used to treat brain tumors with high doses of radiation with very high accuracy.
The Cyberknife system uses a robotic positioning system, which delivers the pencil thin beams of radiation, all while avoiding the normal surrounding tissues. The advantages of this system is that it is non-invasive, does not require any stabilizing frames to be fixed to the skull and can spread the radiation over 1-5 treatment sessions, thus minimizing risk to surrounding tissues.
Typically Brain tumors, Skull Base Tumors, Spine Tumors or AVM’s are treated by a Neurosurgeon in conjunction with a Radiation Oncologist.
